New year equals new diet. Believe me, I understand the struggle of trying to beginning eating healthy. It can be confusing deciding whether certain foods are good and not so good for your health. The start can be rough, yet I feel that these 10 simple ways can really help you in your journey to eating clean! 

1. Keep healthier foods available 
When hungry you naturally go for the easy access item, like something in your pantry, but if you put a bowl of fruit out on your counter, the healthy snacks will be out in the open and there is a better chance that you will go for the fruit next time! 

2. Say no to sugar drinks 
Try to limit Fanta, Coke, Sprite, Pepsi and others. These drinks include unnecessary sugars that do nothing for your health. By cutting these out of your diet, you are one step closer to a clean diet! 

3. Choose whole foods over processed 
When at the food store, try to buy whole foods instead of processed. Natural foods are better for your nutrition. They might be a little bit more expensive, however they benefits are worth the extra penny. 

4. Drink more water daily 
Your body needs water. The more you drink the better. You should be drinking half your bodyweight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 120 lbs you should be drinking 60oz of water each day! This is a easy way to improve your health!

5. Reduce the amount junk food you eat
Just start cutting out cookies, cake, Doritos, Oreos etc. These snacks include unnecessary fat, sugars and carbs. 

6. Add more fruits and veggies to your daily meal plan 
Fruits and veggies are so good for your nutrition. By adding them to your meal plan and eating them daily you are definitely putting the right foods into your body! 

7. Eat well balanced meals
When your meal includes some fruits, meats, dairy, veggies, and water, your body is definitely receiving the right amount of nutrition it needs! 

8. Read the label
Before putting an item in your cart, read the label. Read how many sugars the item includes, and fat and carbs. This can help you in deciding what food are good for your health and which ones to stay away from! 

9. Eat 5-6 meals per day 
Okay, so I am sure you thought that was a typo but no. You should be eating 5-6 meals a day. The average, healthy diet and meal plan includes three main meals and two snacks. 

10. Just remember, take it slow. Eating clean is a journey.
Just try to enjoy the journey and learn what fits to your likes and needs! You will learn something new everyday, enjoy it!
